La Trobe Criminology Students Society (CSS)

The La Trobe Criminology Students Society (CSS) is a student-run club for all criminology and alike students. We are a fairly new and small society, starting in 2014 – a year after the criminology degree started here at La Trobe. We are passionate about the discipline of criminology and aim to help provide all students with a rewarding and exciting student experience.

Although we are a ‘criminology’ society, the club is not exclusive. So whether you’re studying a sociology or arts degree, or doing a crime, justice and legal studies elective – the CSS welcomes any and all students.

The society’s main purpose is to facilitate students’ social connections by fostering a community of like-minded students. After an isolating 2020, we realise the necessity of connection, and hope to help students feel part of the La Trobe community. We aim to do this through social events and gatherings on campus throughout the semester.

We also liaise with staff to provide student feedback on the course and its subjects, in the aim of improving the quality of the course. We also speak with staff to provide careers information and promote employment and volunteering opportunities for students.
