Supporting the School Strike 4 Climate - join the LTSU’s contingent on Friday 25th of March!

Join the La Trobe Student Union’s contingent on Friday March 25th 12PM at the Old Treasury Building.

The La Trobe Student Union both support and stand in solidarity with students striking for climate action. We recognise the impact of climate change on students both in Australia and abroad, and that fighting for climate justice is union business. We recognise the efforts made by this grassroots student movement and back their demands of:

·       100% renewable energy generation and exports by 2030

·       Fund a just transition and job creation for all fossil-fuel workers and their communities

·       Net zero by 2030 which means no new coal, oil, or gas projects, including the Adani coal mine

We welcome all students to march with us and the entire union movement on Friday March 25th 12PM at the Old Treasury Building.

Additionally, we acknowledge the universities promise to become carbon neutral by 2029. Further, we call on the university to cut ties with Rio Tinto, a company that has caused immense environmental degradation and damaged sacred Indigenous sites such as Juukan Gorge.
